would you say that's the beginning of the end?

hubby's researching if the beginning date can be proven from the bible its starting date is 607. clearly, he won't find the answer.... here's hoping he will see the light... .

thank you for your kind offer, I must admitt I am recently under such apostate influence as you mention in your post. It would be very kind of you, if you would help me to straighten the confidence in 607. It would help me to maintain my integrity as JW and to trust again fully to our brothers in the Governing Body. So please:

Could you please quote some secular historians supporting 607? (Iam sure there are many, just mention some for me...)
Is there any reliable secular book supporting 607? (Iam sure there are plenty...)
Could you please write me down Babylonian monarchs of that period and years of their reign (It must be easy, but I was always weak in math, so it doesnt work for me....)

Thank you for your kind help brother, your brief and specific answer will be very apreciated and will help me to cope with apostate influence.

wantstoleave - I think if we told somebody (our kids teachers...) straight we are JW, we should now tell them straight, but without details, we are not in anymore ... otherwise they will be confused.

If somebody told you he is a strict vegetarian and few months later you meet him in a steak restarant would you expect brief explanation?

I work many years for a big company as an executive manager and several hundreds of people know me as a JW, however it was only one person i told this directly several years ago (the lady asked me directly). Others know it indirectly... so it is easier for me now to make sometimes remarks "I was a JW..." Last week I was at a lunch with one of my managers and I made a remark "... I know a lot about manipulation, since I was a JW years ago...." in a second she asked very curious: "You were or you are one?" So I could explained it a bit in the way: I was a JW in the past, and if you have heard I am one, it was incorrect information....... now I hope she will help to spread the info in the company ....

How do you handle if your mate is still in?

One year ago I explained my sons teacher that we are JW and we do not celebrate birthdays .... and now I met her when I brought my son to his classmates birthday party ... I felt weird...

1914 only mentioned ONCE in new book! Can anyone confirm this?

in the new release, 'bearing thorough witness about gods kingdom' i could only find a single reference to 1914 on page 31. this is it;.

"each year, hundreds of thousands accept this offer and become baptized disciples of christ.

There must be a mistake! I don't see mention of the year 1914 in any of the referenced scriptures!

VM44: Thats why brothers have prepared an important announcemnent for the next WT:

How happy we are, that GB have decided to include this vital information in next version of the New Worlds Translation! i've been lurking in the shadows of this forum for about 6 months or so.

i'll try to be brief here, but i apologize in advance if this is not "brief enough" for you.

anyways i'm a 27 year old african american young man, i was born and raised a jehovah's witness.

Your story is mine ... just one year ago...

I was for 10 years zealous JW, than saw too many things are wrong, but still felt "JW follow 1st century Christians..., What if they are right... " ... This took 7 years to me, to see its all just a fairy tale...

Now I see absolutely clear JW are ridiculous man controled and man ruled religion/cult, and they are NOT NOT NOT directed by God at all. They do some things very well, but in many other issues they clearely violate the Bible. This makes them just "one of many" religion and not "the only true" religion.

But you have to make the choice for yourself. Do you want to live in a lie, just to please others (wife, parents...)? Or you want to follow your conscience and live like a free person? Did you try to explain your wife you love her and ant to stay with her forever, but you do not believe WTBS?

Keep searching for informations and .... live your life!

Question about your spouse or ex

i've noticed we have a few male posters here with wives who are still in the jws.

and i can think of one female poster (cognac) with a husband in the jws (although things are looking up for her).

of course we have a few spouses that came out together.. is it me, or does it seem like the women here are more likely to have divorced their jw husband--even before leaving--whereas the men are more likely to stay with their wives?

My wife is a faithful JW. We have 3 little kids. She accepted the fact Iam an "apostate" (formaly in, inactive) now, and is OK with that now.

We definetly do not want to get divorced...

We have an unwritten agreement: She is not seeking "help" againts me and I dont push on her my opinions. I told her, if elders will come over to our house to talk to me - I will be DF on that day. So she rather doesnt talk to the elders...

We agreed on celebrating birthdays, we just call it "aniversary". We agreed on NOT celebrating christmas, but since our JW relatives do celebrate "HAPPY DAY" one day after Christmass (and nobody has a problem with that...) we will maybe move on that....

It is a little bit more difficult with kids - our 7 years old son.

So far its more or less OK...

I have no idea what will be in 10/20 years from now, but I hope we will not be divorced.
